This is one of the Savage .45 pistols that went head to head with the Browning designed Colt .45 for consideration as the US military sidearm in 1907-1911. Fewer than 300 were ever made. This specific pistol was listed as being originally issued to I Troop, 3rd Cavalry at Fort Wingate, NM for trials. Factory refurbished for commercial sale upon return to Savage after military trials. Slide marked "Savage Arms Corporation" underneath rib, and marked .45, as appropriate for factory refurbished; magazine numbered 114.
CONDITION: Excellent as period refurbished with about 97% matte blue. Very small areas of light pits around the safety.
