Extremely rare, as only 12 Savage pistols were gold plated. It's even more unusual to find a gold plated Savage that is not engraved. Another rare feature are the flared pearl grips on the distinctive trapezoidal grip of the Model 1917. Roe Clark letter shows shipped 12/7/1920 to Hukill Hunter Co. with no mention of special features. It's not unusual for Savage records to be incomplete on special decoration. Model variation 1917-20. From the collection of Bailey Brower, Jr., who believes this to be factory special finish and grips, and included it in his award winning display "The Gold Standard."
CONDITION: Excellent plus, retaining 99% gold finish.
